The author is S.E. Hinton. She has written many books. A couple of them are Rumble fish, That was then, this is now, and Tex she has written many more. Another book is taming the star runner, The puppy sister, and a picture book big David , Little David. The outsiders was her first novel.
I think she wrote this book because she wanted to show how her life was around the age 16. I think this because she wrote this book when she was 16. She wanted to tell how society was split. There were two groups the populars (a.k.a. rich people) and the normals (a.k.a. people with not a lot of money). She might have had home problems like Ponyboy the main character. His parents died and she could have gotten hit like him and wanted to run away. She could have had a gang like him too.
I like how you name off a lot of S. E. Hinton's books to show that she has written so many. I also like how you talk about how the society is split because it was at that time.
