man vs. society
I feel that so far it is man vs. society. The characters are having problems with the " rich kids" or "socs", and then because one of them killed a greaser. Ponyboy and Johnny had to leave because of it. The scos think they are better that the greasers because they have more money than them. I think things will workout and everything will be okay, but I do think that they will have some problems and will have to find out where they are going to go and if they will be safe.

I see your point about it being man vs. society, however I also think it's man vs. man because it's two groups basically going against each other.
