If I had the chance to talk to my main character I would tell them that they are being a really good friend and standing up for who he is. I would tell him that he is really brave for running away with Johnny and that he is also brave for going into the burning church to save little kids. He is going through some really hard times right now and he wants to cry but he holds it back so that it doesn't scare anyone. Johnny is in the hospital with a broken back and is about to die.
I would say this because he is being really brave and strong because first he stood up to Darry and then he he ran away with Johnny and saved little kids from a burning down church. Then his best friend is dead and he is trying to fight for him in the rumble.
I would also tell Ponyboy that he is getting stronger out of his friend dying because he has to fill a spot in his heart where Johnny used to be.
I think that he shouldn't of ran away, but everything else I think is good.
