The conflict is man vs. man. Ponyboy is struggling with girls. He thinks that he can't get a girl that is a soc. When the socs came up to Cherry and Marcia they tried to get them back. Two-Bit got out his switch blade. Cherry flipped and left with the socs. Two-Bit apologized.
I think that Ponyboy will try and fix his problem. Before Cherry left with the socs, he told her that he would never cut anyone. She said "I know". Although Cherry kind of said that she liked Darry. There might be another problem in the future.
I see your point but I think it would be man vs society because of what happen with Ponyboy and Johnny, he will not be able to do anything for along time.
