I think that they wrote the book because they want to show that adults don't all ways have to be there for a good life. Friends can have your back too. I also think that they wrote it because hey wanted to have a book in a kids point of view.
I like how you mentioned the point of view of the of a kids. because I like how they put it in a view of a child's mind and if you do something wrong you might think its not bad but parents think it is good.
