(Melia) S.E. Hinton

The author of the outsiders is S.E. Hinton. Her full name is Susan Eloise Hinton, but as you can see she goes by her initials. She has wrote many books, especially in her younger years. For example she has wrote Rumble Fish, That Was Then. This Is Now, Tex, Taming The Star Runner, and many more. She is best known for her book The Outsiders, even though that was the first book she had published.
When she wrote this book she was in high school, so I think that had a big effect on this story. This book has greasers and Socs. In high school there are popular people and the not so popular people, so I think that's where the two different classes come in. I did some research on this topic and found out some of the more popular kids beat her friend up when they were walking home so you can see where this connects with the book. She said she started this book to blow off steam, and it went somewhere.
